Music, specifically choir, has been a central part of over half of my life. It’s well documented that I lived in my high school choir room. I feel most at home in a rehearsal space, and there’s nothing quite like the endorphin rush when a chord locks in and reverberates around a room. After graduating from New York University in 2021, I moved down to DC for work and immediately set out to find a choir to sing in. In Congressional Chorus, I found even more than that.
Even though this is only my third season with the choir, I’ve already had some of the most incredible opportunities. Getting to sing the National Anthem live on CNN at an event commemorating January 6th, performing in such beautiful spaces as the Kennedy Center, National City Christian Church, THEARC, and Church of the Epiphany, to getting to hear some of the most beautiful solos at our annual cabaret are all things I could have never imagined being able to take part in. But perhaps most importantly, I’ve found a new community where I feel accepted, welcomed, and easily able to make friends in a brand-new city.
After living in DC for two years, I finally feel like the city is my home, but the Congressional Chorus has felt like it since the beginning. I can’t wait to spend many more seasons with this talented group of musicians, and I am so excited for the adventures to come!
