Member Spotlight - LeighAnne Markaity

“When I think of home I think of a place where there’s love overflowing” LeighAnne joined Congressional Chorus in the fall of 2015, shortly after moving to Washington DC. Immediately upon joining she knew this was a special group and one she has ultimately made a home. Over the past 9 seasons she have made friendships that will last a lifetime, made incredible music with groups both small and large within the chorus, and sharpened her musical skills. LeighAnne currently works as a nanny and when not singing or chasing toddlers around the Hill, LeighAnne can be found lost in a book, on a run, cooking something new, and exploring the city with friends. 

LeighAnne serves as soprano section leader, is a member of the chamber ensemble, a member of the Board of Directors, and is heavily involved with American Youth Chorus. She will serve as the Vice President of the Board starting in the 2024-2025 season.
